 1873 Copper-Engraved Map of U.S. Weather on Sept. 28, 1872

This unusual map was created in the earliest days of the United States Weather Service. In 1872, Congress ordered the War Department's Signal Corps to make weather observations for the entire United States. These maps are an example of some of the early observations. The two maps depict the weather on September 28, 1872 at two different times. Each shows the weather conditions, wind direction, and temperature at various observation stations.

Due to the INCREDIBLY high shipping prices charged for OVERSIZE shipping, shipping charges may be higher than quoted for items that measure more than a total of 70" (matted height + width).
